The libs on BWOT are now questioning Obama's campaign promise to deepen the engagement in Afganistan after voting for him?

I like the idea of a front in Afganistan with the ACTIVE military from Pakistan from the south, squeezing the Taliban into the Swat Valley. Then get out the bulldozers and show them what a real mass grave looks and feels like.

You were doing OK up until there, where you kinda got lost in the woods.... It was the extremist Bush administration that lied our country into war, backed by the agenda of neocons and right wing religious radicals. Secular government is not the enemy, it is the cure.

So now you are accepting the misstated fact that Someone lied to get us into Afganistan as well. Get a grip, GS.

If anyone needs a secular government, it is the Taliban. Point your criticism in the correct direction. Oh, wait, we are already, aren't we?

I didn't vote for Obama in some part because of his support for this policy. Another being his AIPAC sponsored support for Israeli aggression...and all the other "moderate" Democrat pablum that I despise. I think he's basically a decent guy trying to do good, but he's stuck within a really fucked up paradigm that can't handle doing justice for justice's sake.

Afghanistan was a failed military policy from the get-go, because it's fundamentally not a military problem. The Taliban are a cohesive expression of what a large number of Afghans/Pakis really believe about theology, culture and the social order. Toppling them just eliminates that particular political vehicle, but the basic underlying concept remains. If the US guv were to outlaw the GOP, do you think RWNJs would just go away?

Were it not for the incompetence and misdeeds of the Bush administration, affairs in Afghanistan would have likely wrapped up long ago. Every woe that has befallen our country during this century is tied to that incompetence and to those lies.

As an all-knowing second-guesser of an entire US government in office for eight years, it's time for you to put your mouth/money where your politics are and RUN for office. Or just run away.

Yes, I generally take all my cues from folks who boast online of having no ethics and low expectations. You're my hero, man. Keep the solids comin'.

The Taliban has always been and will always be part of the "Muslim world" that the Obama administration is so affectionate about. The actions in Afghanistan is completely contradictory to the words of conciliation with this "Muslim world". When are they and the libs here gonna admit their mistakes ?

... and this important discussion continues.
