Yeah, that's my assessment as well. I thought the 211 was a step back in the right direction stylistically, but then they come out with...this? I love the technology found on the 210 (except the spring perches) and especially that killer 606 turbo, but I could never quite accept the body styling cues. I guess my only choice is to raid the MB parts bin for newer chassis/engine upgrades and install them on the last true Mercedes built.

After working on my W124 the last two days, just general maintenance, I am back in love with the pinnacle of Mercedes Benz development. Everything after the 124 was complexity for complexity's sake. I'd be afraid to do an oil change on those new ones.

I read the review of the new E class in Star magazine this month. They are so friggin' complicated! Guess I'm old school.

I agree - I don't like the squared off headlamps. Far too generic looking.
