I have to dare you. It is what I do. I don't dare you to lose touch with rationality.
If there is nothing there, what have you lost in the dare? I lose face, you lose nothing if you are correct (though I know you aren't). Do it and just wait, You'll see.
On the medical front, I do believe in prayer and actually miraculous healing (and am around those who have had those results) but 'NEVER' would I advocate someone forgo medical treatments. God does not work unidirectional, but instead multifaceted . Nobody I hang with would advocate something like that either.
Like me. Cancer survivor, and believe prayer and God had much to do with the results, but we are given a brain to search out any and all methods at our disposal. I chose robotic surgery and a radical diet and health regime. I will say God intervened in the timing , processes and locating in rapid order the necessary entities to get things done asap. Astounding results and a clean bill of health from a surgeon who only a year ago told me different.
You are the one here limiting a major option, by your disbelief. Did you consider that?
Dope, I understand your mindset, but pray for you to see past 3 dimensions. There are now (assumed)12 dimensions. Which one(s) does God operate in? (ALL).
I have been reading this also and would like to move your question in a slightly different direction. Instead of a singular personal cancer, let's load up a Boeing 757 and call it Flight 93 [from another thread]. It had 40 passengers and crew and 4 hijackers [we can call them the cancer].
A diety[God], could have intervened in the timing , processes and locating in rapid order the necessary entities to get things done asap to completely STOP that event cold. While we can all argue that there were most likely a few folks that needed cleansing, or a few whose time might have come, statistics don't hold for 100%.
Now, using that same day in US History, let's move to three other flights. And a few other buildings. And a over 3000 other deaths. And move it even further to the dominoes that fell as a result of 9/11, the thousands of American and coalition troops killed, tens of thousands of troops wounded and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians that had no part in any bit of warfare killed or wounded or displaced because of the events of that one day.
While I am very glad you have survived cancer, skilled surgeons and clinicians did their job very well from the sound of things, the argument that it was a spiritual intervention, while heartwarming is specious. Now, that said, positive thinking and an absolute 'going to beat it' attitude might help and if you believe you have a wingman for that task, so be it.
You just can't use YOUR individual healing as a proof of the existence of something while, at the same time experiencing something like 9/11 which can be easily argued to prove the very opposite.
