Here is the humor of Joe the Plumber. He was put up by the Republican Party in the fall of 2008 as the symbol of the spirit of the new Republicanism. He was the face of the Republican view of middle America. Nearly everybody on the Right jumped on the Joe bandwagon, and when it comes out that Joe the Plumber might not have been all he said he was...well, you guys jumped right to his defense, not once thinking about the unintended consequence of those decisions. Since he was Republican, and since he was against Obama, he should be defended.

If you want to see where vitriol started, go back to a multimillion dollar Ken Starr investigation of a blowjob. Not the lie, the blowjob. Think about how politics were discussed prior to that slice in time and how they have been discussed afterwards.

Then look at little thing called Swiftboating. See how the vitriol escalated after that. If you don't want to think about Republicans picking on Democrats, think about the Bush/McCain brown baby incident [that would be Karl Rove]. Are the dots starting to connect?

So, we took your posterboy for the New Republicanism, watched him and Sarah! as they careened through interview after interview time and again showing that they lacked clarity of thought to present an articulate position.

Could it be that they just were not polished? Turns out not to be the case.

You have a Marine sword with your dress uniform that symbolizes the forging and honing of a Marine to a lethal weapon. Critical Thinking skills are the very same. Some people have finely honed skills and others only have a lump of iron, lacking the forging, shaping, normalizing, edging and honing that makes those skills useful. You guys just picked some folks that have not been through the complete process...and may never.

We point that out because if they hold the standards of YOUR party, that affects everyone at some point. Because we are selfish, and want the best possible country for everyone, we would really, REALLY like you guys to put some very smart, legitimate folks up as leaders.

Nope. You are opinionated and have taken many a stand. You pass the smell test. That part of my post was directed at people with no opinion that do not take a stand.

You're trying desperately to blend the issue of rules and their application, with the question of Christian Tolerance.

I'm suggesting that a RULE which prohibits and defines penalties for homosexual behavior, created and enforced by a Christian establishment, is patently intolerant. It doesn't have anything to do with liberal/conservative. I'm further suggesting that it's hypocritical to not enforce those rules evenly.

Look up tolerant in an online dictionary and let me know where it's the exclusive domain of either atheists or the non-secular.
Head up the ass? Spoken like a man with plenty of experience. You are the poster child for desperation. The "Christian establishment" as you call it, did NOT create any rule against homosexuality. It's in the Bible, look it up. To hear most religions tell it, this is the word of God Himself, not something a bunch of "intolerant" Christians "interpreted" from the Book. It was a felony in all states to engage in sodomy as late as the 60's. As a Christian school, do you really think that they shouldn't have any rules against that which is specifically a "bad" thing as defined in the very Book the faith is based on? It was, and still is, the liberal mindset that takes us farther and farther from the Christian principles that this country was founded on. It has everything to do with this way of thinking. And I'll ask again if you would like to honestly give an opinion of what "other" religions would do with the guy in the same situation. Still think Christianity is the religion of "intolerance"? I was not the one who chose to use this as an example of "Christian" intolerance. As religions go, this one is probably the farthest from intolerant that could exist and still be a faith based on the existence of God. All religion is based on the concept of spirituality that ultimately defines a set of rules, ethics, and lifestyle for those that practice that faith. So yes, Christianity is by definition, "intolerant", just not nearly the most intolerant.

Your insinuations of what I believe, and smears of other religions aside, thank you for agreeing with me. It's interesting how many other points I've made that you just drove home with this little tirade.

BTW, let me know when they hand out the 2009 "World's Not Nearly The Most Intolerant" awards so I can watch Christianity get the trophy this year.

Nobody said the student hadn't violated some set of rules, no matter how anachronistic and pointless they might be. The school is plainly within it's rights to suspend him.

But it's a bit inconsistent to suspend the actor, and not the fellow student who undoubtedly found the video by - wait for it - surfing the internet for gay porn.

All that said, the POINT you missed, was that in the discussion about Christians being tolerant, there was this very week a news article that again casts them as intolerant.

The student hurt no-one, not even himself, broke no laws, and didn't use his real name - yet the Christian school was ready and eager to suspend him because they don't like the concept of men lying with other men.

I wonder if the school would have suspended him if it was a straight porn movie.
And if you actually think about something before you post it you will undoubtedly understand that engaging in Gay Porn is entirely different than watching it.

Not to mention that did you ever stop to think that the rule he may have been suspended under is taking money for sex?

Not to mention you have no idea what consequences the other student may or may not have had.

More of going off half-cocked on your part. Ironic considering the thread.

I insinuate nothing. Your position is obvious, but if you believe it's not, please, do tell. Allow me to quote you "Christians are intolerant, as evidenced by the source cited in the original post." Seems what? A "broad swath" type of statement no? Are you sure you're not a closet conservative? Finally, asking you what you think any other religion would think or do in this situation smears any of them in what way? Is it that you just don't like the answer? I've got an industrial sized tube of KY for you to help get that head back where it belongs when you're all done making an ass of yourself. Take your time.
