ACORN charged with voter fraud...sigh

I think reasonable people suspected the possibility of shenanigans, but I was hoping...

I wonder when we'll have a presidential election that is completely devoid of clouds...

I do enjoy the irony that the land of sin and corruption and organized crime is bringing the charges, though.

The pertinent points...

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now had a handbook and policies requiring employees in Las Vegas to sign up 20 new voters per day to keep their $8- to $9-per-hour jobs...

Canvassers who turned in 21 new voter registrations earned a "blackjack" bonus of $5 per shift, Masto added. Those who didn't meet the minimum were fired.

...Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller emphasized the case involved "registration fraud, not voter fraud," and insisted that no voters in Nevada were paid for votes and no unqualified voters were allowed to cast ballots.

But hey, the headlines look really kuel on faux. They get to use ACORN in big bold letters. You have to go to the little print to find that they pay some kid $8 per hour to get 20 new voter cards per day filled out.

If only they had someone like Chuck Norris as a draw to every little cowtown in the west to get prospective voters to come out and register, that would be different. Wonder who picked up Chuck's airline tickets?

Anyone who thinks this is an indictment of ACORN is stoopit.

Compared to the voter fraud that took place here in Florida in 2000 and the fraud in Ohio in 2004 presidential elections, this ACORN stuff is laughable. Of course, none of this other stuff was mentioned much on "fair and balanced" Faux News.

Given the circumstances under which G.W.Bush stole the election twice, the best the right wingers could do right now is to STFU.

It is an indictment of a local office of the group for a series of what boil down to quality control issues. They should have had better management of the process but, as has been pointed out in thread after thread, THIS ISSUE is not voter fraud. It can't even lead to voter fraud. All it can lead to, at the worst is extra work for the data entry folks at the local county voter registration office. The database catches the duplicates and the bogus entries [bad street address etc] and the required ID at the voter booth would catch anyone that managed to get that far. Tada.

Given that ACORN doesn't actually conduct the elections, it's not surprising that this is laughable. Unless you've been programmed by Rush Limbaugh to hate anything & everything that moves.

WASHINGTON — Nevada's attorney general on Monday filed criminal charges accusing liberal community activist group ACORN and two of its employees of facilitating voter registration fraud in November's election by requiring canvassers to submit 20 applications each day or face termination.

Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto , both Democrats, announced the charges, stressing that there's no evidence that the phony registrations led to the casting of votes using fake identities.

REGISTRATION fraud. Anyone care to chime in on the whole "ACORN = VOTER FRAUD" nonsense that was whipped up about 6 months ago?
