Even assuming you are correct, that all this means is a presidential public scolding, the existence of a threat itself is problematic. It looks like the WH is already denying it.
"A Presidential scolding?" Get real. The government is negotiating with taxpayer money and reports the results of the failed negotiations to the taxpayers. The fact that there was a minority interest that brought the negotiations to a halt and Chrysler went into bankruptcy because Obama did not authorize more taxpayer money to bail out Chrysler as the minority interest had expected is tough shit for the minority interest - and good shit for America's taxpayers. Finally, someone is going to have to live with the consequences of their decision, and I am grateful that the President gave the report to the public that he did.

Here's the real scandal which has not been reported on at all by the MSM.

The government is paying off the majority holders while bullying the minority owners into taking a smaller deal.

How would you like to be the minority owner in a business and the majority owner in cahoots with a buyer (with payments occurring outside the transaction without your participation) forces the sale of the company at a below market price ?

So let's see, the offended parties here are "hedge funds and money managers". Jesus, am I weeping tears for that bunch. Bad Obama! Bad boy!

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

The administration is being accused of
1) not negotiating in GOOD FAITH
and
2) engaging in THEFT.

Looks like these investors bought the bonds prior to TARP.

Simple question as I am a simple man and therefore simple minded:

How can a Union run a company when it's own internal policies are diametrically opposed to making a profit? I could see how they could coast for a while if the company was in good financial shape, but Chrysler? How can it be done? How do they argue for the Union and the company at the same time? Conflict of interest? Do they go in a closet and hold a meeting with themselves?

Laws which retroactively alter "existing liens on property" are disallowed .... get this, a Depression era case involving a Louisville farmer vs bank was cited.

Looks like the government's NEW Chrysler proposal gives current out of warranty Chrysler drivers the shaft. What a hatchet job, GOOD GOING !!!

Sorry, old Chrysler customers — it appears that if your warranty is expired or inapplicable, and your claim is one for negligence for product liability, you are one of these out-of-luck people.
