^ Long putts should be lay-ups. Just leave yourself something makable and you're doing way better than most.
My problem was that I'd always rocket the ball past the cup. Always. No matter the distance. Stone hands. With this mallet, counter-intuitively, the heavier club actually gives me better distance control than traditional blade-type putters (like the Odyssey I have collecting dust). It's also easier to hit where I'm aiming. Maybe it's the MOI, maybe it's the extra material making it tougher to yip, I dunno...but it works for me.
I'm pretty excited about getting out and playing more this year. I need a 3-wood, maybe a hybrid, and a 62 degree sand wedge, to round out my set. I might settle for an 18 degree 3-wood instead of a 15 degree 3W and a 21 degree hybrid. I hardly ever need anything longer than the 3 iron, even from the blues, but of course that means I'm not playing 7,000+ yard tracks...I don't suspect many are.
I'd love to break 80 this year, but first I have to figure out how to break 90 again.
