Love good discourse on the other love of my life. Auto stuff. Thats the 2nd love of my life, and the wife would like to think otherwise.....sorry woman, ya come in 3rd..
Growin up in Mo-town and the ole man working for Ford in the offices, I was privy to the design labs and saw many vehicles before they hit the pavement. Then a friend worked as a Ford test driver (a job most would kill for). They tested everything from Fords to Ferrari's, disassembled and reassembled them to check wear and steal trade secrets. I've been on their test track. The one is closed now, since most of the production cars couldn't get up the steep grade hill after the 70's emissions and smaller engines were used, so they relocated their test track. it had a sweeper banked curve which at 100mph would put you totally vertical. Probably if you did much less mph you would slide down the side. We never wanted to find out.
Gets in your blood, eh?
Still want a Pantera DeTomaso, and when I sell some of the sheet metal around here I may come up with the room and $$'s for it. Yeah, it's not a Benz, but there are differing cars for differing purposes. The Pantera is just raunchy power and handling.
