Dig...

Ya got me. And though I never witnessed it there was quite a few little guys in SE Asia who were also lighting themselves up like a birthday cake many years ago.

For the life of me I just can't understand the mindset that would make someone do that.

Thanks!

For us, it's very hard to understand that mind set.
That huge group around were very aware and supportive of that tragic event.....and from what it said, it happens far to often and with little or no intervention.

Is it a lack of education or the basic necessities of life that drives people to this?
What despair they must have!

Despair is the word, see it here in Asia a lot and I will never understand it.

It must take a tortured mind to do that, but it does happen.

I like that a lot....but it's probably a little too expensive for your average sea-going vessel.

jlomon......
Do you think Canada can afford any of those?

We have them on every single one of our seagoing naval vessels, even our supply ships. I have to wonder if they're expensive compared to $3M ransom payments on oil tankers.

The expense probably factors in when/if one goes off in port and takes out the fuel storage tanks nearby, killing hundreds in the resulting fireball.
