11-yr-olds lost to suicide

This story is almost unbearable. Although not as unbearable as the "relentless homophobic taunts" that these two boys endured at school, day after day. Finally they stopped enduring and turned their anger and hurt inward, as victims often do. These boys weren't even 'gay' so far as anyone knows. They were just victimized.
On April 6, just before dinner, Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover, a Massachusetts boy who had endured relentless homophobic taunts at school, wrapped an extension cord around his tiny neck and hanged himself. He was only 11 years old. His mother had to cut him down.

On April 16, just after school, Jaheem Herrera, a Georgia boy who had also endured relentless homophobic taunts at school, wrapped a fabric belt around his tiny neck and hanged himself as well. He too was only 11 years old. His 10-year-old sister found him.

Somehow, the suicides of children are unspeakable. Worse even than the suicides of adults.

Having an 11-year-old, and I know they're all different, it seems almost impossible that something like this would be an overly-dramatic or disingenuous act, like a plea for attention or something senseless like adolescents are prone to bemoan.

I also know that kids can withstand a lot, lot of shit, and can be fine with it.

That these two had it so bad that they killed themselves really is unthinkable. A complete and utter failure of everyone involved. Parents, teachers, friends. Unthinkable.
