Ah, I was going to close it:

"...and thanks for all the fish" with a nod to Douglas Adams.

But the big P logo works, too. Kind of weird, my first car was a '65 GTO and my last (before the benz) was a Grand Am. Plenty of great memories from the first and not much bad I could say about the last.

My first car. Paid $75 for it when I was 15 and rebuilt the engine in High School. 1960 Catalina 2 dr. 389 tri-power with a four speed and no power steering. What a beast.

What surprises me is that Buick gets a pass. Pontiac has had some success in road racing, even though their cars are the same union-grade plastic shit they've been since the late 80's.

My first ever car I 'owned' was a 1977 Pontiac Firebird, in primer brown, complete with organic weight reduction (rust in the floorboard, etc). The first car I financed was a 1988 Pontiac Trans-Am, 5.0L TPI, red, T-tops, color-matched GTA wheels. 1988's body and trim looked the best of any in that era, in my opinion.

The space ship version of the TA that Shane bought is ignorant in every regard. The Grand Am and Grand Prix were total shit, no matter what they call them or how big the engine is.

What I find doubly depressing is that the only marques producing the sexiest new American roadsters - Saturn and Pontiac - are doomed. The gal that designed them should have no trouble finding work.

I'm sure GS will agree with me that the auto dealers in AZ would die if you got rid of Buick. Every other snowbird you get stuck behind is driving a Buick.

It's illegal in most states to buy them if you're not 55 years old. Most people don't know that.

I heard Shane was eyeing an Enclave, but needs to wait another year or two to be eligible.
