I had to click on the link in the original post to learn what PH is. I agree Teutone, how does something like that garner attention and some kind of status from the general public. Who cares what PH says? Maybe its mother?

As for this peculiar argument that marriage is a religious event - I think for those who think it is a religious event it likely is. For others who don't regard it as a religious event, it likely isn't. How is that complicated? And if couple over there doesn't think their marriage is a religious event, how does that have any bearing on whether or not yours, assuming you think yours is a religious event, is a religious event to you? How is it any of your business if theirs is not a religious event to them?

The State got involved when they started doling out certain tax benefits, health benefits, inheritance rights, and other "perks" to people who were recognized by the State as being married. I also find the wording used "I don't agree with homosexuality, nor will I ever..." earlier pretty peculiar. I am having a hard time figuring out who asked anyone to "agree with homosexuality." What does that mean? A declaration that someone is not gay? Who ever said anyone "had to agree with homosexuality?" The idea here is you might be gay, or you might not be gay. If you are and you live in a world where you are surrounded by heterosexual people, are you required to agree with heterosexuality? I think the issue here is really mind your own business and let others enjoy being who they are until it encroaches or restricts you enjoying being who you are in some measurable manner that is not some contrived internal argument of your own.

Anyway, the best cure for being subjected to shitbirds like PH is to pay them no attention. All this jabbering about the loser adds to notoriety and publicity and, fuck, now I know what it is.

And yet another reason why people should be behind the FairTax! Equal treatment under the IRS! Then it wouldn't matter if Gays were married or not!

(I think this the real reason politicians don't want this going on, a reduction in the tax base...)

That is just the stupidest fucking statement. Government-sanctioned marriage is nothing more than a contract enforcement issue. Two willing adults enter into a contract, and each party has legal rights under that contract. So let's think about this for a moment - who is legally able to enter a contract? Adult human beings who are not of impaired judgment. So that rules out children. It rules out animals. It rules out inanimate objects. None of those things have legal standing to provide consent.

The only additional restrictions placed on entering the contract would be already being in a marriage contract, and consanguinuity, which is a big fancy word that means you can't marry your relatives (up to second cousins in most places).

And nobody ever thought women would get the vote. No Canuk ever thought they would be free from the Monarchy. And nobody believes today that Canada can brew a good beer.

Just wait, you will get to marry a stump if you want. After all who is the govt. to say what you can do in your own bedroom? You have unwritten rights!
