^ This is the reverse side of the hypocrisy coin. If it's "taboo" to be outraged by outrageous acts of others when our own house is not in perfect order, it's also taboo to use the failings or outrageous acts of others as justification for our own.
Someone, at some point, has to decide to be BETTER than the poor example set by others, whoever they are - leaders of religions, nations, families, businesses, etc.
