Interesting and informative experience today...
I was at the gym for a couple hours this afternoon and saw the problem up close and personal. There were a dozen big flat-panel TVs across the wall w/ all the major news and sports channels on them. I was watching the Royals baseball game, but keeping my eye on the others as well. CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, CNBC, FOX, ESPN, ESPN2, etc... were all there. The only channel covering the Tea Party was FOX, and they had spectacular coverage from coast to coast of the hundreds of Tea Parties and hundreds-of-thousands of people protesting the current administration's tax and spend policies. From the many interviews, I would guess that half were democrats and half republicans. For over an hour I watched the TVs and was shocked, but not surprised, to see NO reports of the American Tea Parties on any channel but FOX. FOX had wall-to-wall coverage of massive rallies from coast to coast, and not one of the other networks even acknowledged the Tea Parties. I saw one mention of the events on CNN, and clicked over to see what they were saying: Wolf Blitzer spent all of 20 seconds explaining that CNN does not cover "these type of events" because they do not represent US policy. And he went on to explain that not one other credible news agency was covering it. He said that the NYTimes did not have one mention of it at any time, and that the Washington Post had only one brief/indirect mention in today's paper. He made no apologies and offered only excuses.
Bear and Blitzer really need to get their stories straight!
Don't believe everything you think
