She was warned beforehand as well, this happened a couple of weeks ago. She and a friend were taking pictures of bridges. Bridges are military targets. This is a paranoid police state. I bet just posting it on the Internet would get her the "passing it to American intelligence" charge. Dumb bitches. I doubt there is much anyone can do, the country, if it has those laws in effect and tells tourists explicity what they can and cannot legally do, then they are in their rights to arrest those who do not comply. Apparently Iran only allows photos in designated tourist areas. Given the tensions with the US and Israeli, I don't blame them.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address
