So now we are suppose to be protecting Italian tug boats?

We wouldn't have to if we were a little more decisive in protecting our own.

So you want a running escort of all US Flagged merchant ships throughout the Eastern African Coast?

I think you might find that option a bit of a logistical problem.

We could just blow their little lifeboat out of the water. That would show them. I would guess, however the Captain's family might be somewhat annoyed at that "shoot first, fail to ask any really good questions" policy.

Here is the map of 2008 attacks. Why was there such an increase during the final four years of the Bush administration? I thought he was the Decider. Apparently he decided to ignore it and let it fester, much like the economy.

Please redefine what you are trying to say if it is not your comments regarding the clip "Failure to act" and comment "We wouldn't have to if we were a little more decisive in protecting our own." seem pretty clear. As was my response to them.

We are not in a position to "ACT" without killing the hostage. Or, spreading that out further invading another sovereign country. Our flagged ships are not, by international law allowed to be armed so we either have to obey the law or ignore the law.

Much like other law enforcement, we have to take up the issues as they arise. We didn't do anything about it for nearly a decade, abandoning the area so we now have a built up problem, and minimal resources to address it.

We don't have the Navy resources to fly CAP over every US flagged merchant ship [there are around 300 of them] and we have no AF bases in the area for the Zoomies to do it.

It is not just our failure to act in that one instance. It is the overall failure that comes from defining-down the war on terror, unlawful combatants, and almost everything that made this country feared and respected. The world just sees us as a bunch of wimps now that Obama has redefined our role in the world. His pre-9/11 mentality is going to get us killed. It has already cost us the respect of the rest of the world.

So exactly WHO previously respected us? That seems to have been missing from everyone else's memo.

The world doesn't see us as wimps, FAUX sees us as wimps; because they can't figure out that in a democracy things might just work in a different paradigm than what THEY think.

Once they work through their Fear, Uncertainty, Confusion and Dread; Faux, Post, WSJ and other Murdoch publications will quit their incessant whining about nits and phantom, parallel realities.

I heard they do good business in Lexington, although they relocated to the corner of West 3rd Street and North Broadway so as to take advantage of recruiting radicals from the Transylvania University, just a short walk away....
