In case you did not know, in many US states now exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 MPH or more is considered a felony. This means that if you get caught doing 120 MPH in say 75 MPH zone, you are very likely going to jail and your car will be impounded. And your driver's license may be suspended for some time in addition to a mandatory court appearance and very hefty fines. Something to keep in mind. And of course, your insurance rates will skyrocket after a conviction like this.

A young man was caught in New Jersey several years ago, doing about 140 MPH in a 45 MPH zone on his motorcycle. He was arrested, jailed, given a $ 10,000 fine, had his license suspended for at least two years, and had to take several driver improvement courses. A very high price to pay for a few seconds of adrenaline rush.

^Yes I figured at that speed I was going to jail if caught, it is up to the discretion of the officer as I have experienced in the past (122mph in a 55mph / luckily no jail). I was a quarter mile behind the S550 most of the time, figuring on letting him and only him take the heat in most realistic scenarios. I let him lead until we exited for the two lane black top, then I led the rest of the way. It is very risky, on more than one level, but it was too tempting not to have some fun before the USA clamps down on any independence the individual may have left. I am not so old yet that I cannot have some fun still. My reactions are fading, my eye sight is failing, and my concentration level is diminished. I have raced all my mature life, I will not be able to do it forever. This was a memorable occasion that may not have a chance for equal realization again.

Come to Chicago. Yesterday I was doing 60 through a 45 mph construction zone and Hyundais and Hondas were blowing my doors off. In the 55 zones EVERYONE does at least 75. It's crazy but accidents are few and far between and they usually involve some dipshit doing the speed limit.
