Camille Paglia gets it right!

I can't argue with a single thing in Ms. Paglia's opinion piece. Picture is what she references in the story.

Quote:
Heads should be rolling at the White House for the embarrassing series of flubs that have overshadowed President Obama's first seven weeks in office and given the scattered, demoralized Republicans a huge boost toward regrouping and resurrection.

She's also a wanker and a really lousy writer. I've always found her stuff to be painful reading...but then again, I'm neither liberal nor Democrat, so maybe that's my problem

never heard of her

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

You might want to check that reference out. She is certainly outspoken, she is registered Democrat but she is not all that liberal, not a voice for either liberalism or democrats. She is more a voice of libertarians if she were to be defined [which would be anathema to her].

As for the article, there is much correct in what she says, however she over amplifies the "embarrassing series of flubs" which are mainly nits that have been seen as a diversion instead of focusing on the hard stuff [which apparently the media doesn't like to spend much time on since the audience has perpetual ADD when it has to think].

She is a much better writer than the oddly rambling piece you referenced.

Salon is having a hard time since Huff Post came on the scene, they've got to do outrageous stuff just to get noticed anymore, so they plug in this shit from this dork. I think in general, Democrats are ecstatic over Obama's performance overseas, he has done everything I could have personnally asked him to do, and set a whole new tone for a new era. And this is just the beginning. His tumultuous reception by the troops in Iraq was an added pleasant surprise. My only real pissed-off moment was when he bowed to that Saudi Arabian fascist fuck who calls himself a "king". That was just not cool, but hey, at least he did not hold his hand and kiss the fuck, like our last president did, probably while Cheney was sucking his kingly wanker.

Really now. Giving a stack of CD to the PM of the UK and an iPod to the Queen? Writing a letter to Chirac and basically snubbing Sarkozy? And Clinton with the red button! Come on McBear, you have to admit that Obama is behaving like the "Ugly American." The real problem is it is not him! It is his freakin's staff!

The Obama administration has put on a facade of Old Washington power brokers but behind the scenes they seem to be all 20 something college kids who know nothing of statesmanship and continually embarrass the boss!

Obama is learning the job as he goes, we all see that. He has no executive experience from which to judge the efficacy of his staff and to wit, we get these outcomes that are just juvenile.

What's next? An iTunes Gift Card for the Japanese Emperor? Or maybe a six pack of good American Lager for the German Chancellor Merkel? I know, a years supply of good Vermont Cheddar to Sarkozy to make up for the flub with Chirac.
