Here is what my doctor in Singapore wrote me this morning:

Since you don't have the most recent laboratory results , that is, done now we start with this dosage.

It would be important to keep yourself well hydrated (at least 3 litres per day). This is the only medication (or aciclovir but it is not as well
absorbed) that can control and treat the problem of the vesicles you have.
If the vesicles seem to be increasing or new areas are affected you would need to start on an intravenous medication.

Reactivation of herpes zoster in a transplant patient can be life threatening. Many years ago I had a patient who died unfortunately since they didn't seek treatment early enough.

I got chickenpox from my kids when I was in my early 30s and very fit. Over the course of a few days it progressed from a small rash on my neck to completely covering my face and body. Then the fever set in and it moved to my internal organs. I was too sick to leave the house so I had the doctor make a house call. When he saw me he looked visibly shaken and made some very 'strange' comments to my wife. I nearly died.
I won't go into detail, but I had some VERY unpleasant symptoms. Suffice it to say loose fitting pants, calamine lotion and a fan were essential. The viral load was huge. After two weeks I was beginning to recover but couldn't shave because my face was covered in lesions.
After nearly four weeks I felt well enough to return to work and did so with my doctor's consent. About three weeks after that a woman in the office came down with shingles. It started with a small rash on her torso and gradually formed almost a complete band around her body. She was hospitalized and described the pain as living hell.
The VZV is a nasty virus in adults.
I would be making sure my affairs were in order.

It is in the back of my mind, blood test today shows Urea at 23 (Scale 10 to 50) and Creatinine at 1.1 which is normal, 50% kidney failure is about 3.3 and talking crazy as a shithouse rat is anything above 6.

I have looked after people with overwhelming sepsis due to virus - it can take over quickly, and not with good outcomes.

What is the vaccination program for kids in Indonesia? Are there similar rules for vaccination before school age as there are in the US?
