There are several risk factors that can increase your chances of developing shingles
1. . Advanced age is one factor. About one in four adults, with generally good health, will get shingles sometime in their lifetime. Most people who develop shingles are over the age of 40.
2. A weakened immune system will also play a role. HIV infection, cancer, cancer drugs, radiation treatments, or an organ transplant will significantly impact your immune system, leaving your vulnerable to shingles.
3. Stress or a cold could even temporarily put you at risk.
4. The other factor that plays a role is whether a child’s mother had chickenpox late in pregnancy. If she had it 5 to 21 days before giving birth, or if the child had chickenpox in infancy, there is an increased risk of pediatric shingles.

I sent pics of it my doctor in Singapore becuase it did not look like any poxs I or the wife had seen, only formed on my left thigh and the poxs were all grouped together in patches and little poxs were bubbles filled with an oily substance.
Doctor responded with it being extremely dangerous and to immediately start on 1 gram 3 times a day of Valaciclovir. I took 1 gram 40 minutes after I read his email.
Time for a new doctor... Have him/her examine the manboobs as well.
Did you ever have pox when you were a child? If you did, then you have shingles.
I had a blot of it on my fore head back in 1995 and the nerve damage is permanent, I still feel the burning sensation today even the scares have since long gone.

My doctor called it right then, here is his email to me yesterday:
You probably have herpes zoster. It is a reactivation of "varicella zoster" virus, that is, chicken pox.
You need to be on treatment. Suggest start intravenous aciclovir 500 mg 8 hourly with adequate fluid hydration. This infection can be extremely dangerous. If you are not able to start intravenous medication alternatively start oral valaciclovir 1g three times per day or if that is not available start oral aciclovir 800 mg four times per day. Make sure you drink enough fluids.
Please check your blood tests for full blood count, urea electrolytes creatinine, liver function test and CRP.
Need to start them as soon as possible, that is, today. Delay can be disastrous.
In 1912, the world famous Austrian gynecologist, Dr. Hermann Otto Kloepneckler, M.D Ph.D. published the following:
"The best engine in the world is the vagina. It can be started with one finger. It is self-lubricating. It takes any size piston. And it changes its own oil every four weeks. It is only a pity that the management system is so damn temperamental."
