The Wire

Season 1 of The Wire has just started screening on TV in the UK by the BBC, so we can look forward to 60 episodes about US lowlife and police conflicts....

Reviews of this 2002 - 2008 production have been generally very positive, but for many of us we need to use the subtitles to follow the ghetto lingo.

I have to ask - is the show really typical of life in the poorest parts of Baltimore? And are most Americans able to follow the type of dialogue found in these programs? It is not your regular Hollywood script....

O.o... Wow, the U.K is late. It's not worth watching somthing that was filmed in 2002. In my opinion.

To answer your question, the typical life in the poorest parts of Baltimore is WORSE than what's shown on the Wire, much worse!

At this point, I'd say 2010.
