From all I've read, I don't think Donovan will leave FL, Florida coach Billy Donovan not interested in Kentucky job - ESPN

I think BG will end up back in the Big 12, and wouldn't be surprised if KY ends up w/ a Big 12 coach. Frankly, I think KY made a big mistake, but what's new. Hey bear?

BTW bear, I think I know where you spent the night...

Jay, on some level it seems very hasty to fire a guy "after only two years" but as Smitty pointed out, He was unwilling to accept all of the job descriptions.

This reporter has learned that it was his arrogance that cost him the job. Not his coaching ability.

Yes, I am aware of that, but he had no problems in TX. In fact, he was loved and respected there from what I recall. So I have to wonder whether it was all Billy's problem, or perhaps the local media and some big cigars just got their noses out of joint over some perceived slights... And when it comes to highly successful coaches, there aren't many like our Bill Self. Most are characterized by high levels of arrogance. Just look at Bobby Knight and many past KY coaches for that matter. Before KY, BG was looked at nationally as a very successful coach--which is one reason I suspect he had such a loosey-goosey contract/memo of agreement.

Okay, I'll tell you what this reporter has learned. BG is a SOT! The university has a rep to uphold.

Well, he's a good ol' boy from TX, and likes his bourbon and branch. But the KY search committee should have picked that up before they hired him, IMO! I don't think it was a secret...

Kentucky isn't Texas A&M. As Yos said, it was his attitude, not his performance that did it. It is the same reason that when most people list UK coaches, they list Rupp, Hall, Pitino and Smith, somehow forgetting Eddie Sutton who also didn't fit into the UK program.

McBear,
Kentucky

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

Looks like John Calipari is in.

It will likely make him the highest paid NCAA Coach.
