Dear Jakarta Expat
The individual freedoms never were, and never will be reformed as long as our Constitution stands. Of these rights, the right to be wrong is perhaps one of the fundamentals of our freedom.
This is so much so that you foster a club with religious-political orientation from abroad. You are free to do whatever you wish, and you did not need me to say so to enjoy such freedom. My only point relates to the fact of your geographical location: The US is in a deep sea of stools, antagonizing fundamentalist groups which, spread mainly among Muslim Nations, have terrorized or attacked politically and physically the very freedoms you are claiming loudly, plus selective targets at home, in our theater of operations, at countries allied to us, neutral, or even allied to them. And the confrontation, unfortunately for everyone, continues. This, limits the expression of your views from a virtually hostile location. Of course, you may take it or leave it.
Nevertheless, one thing is a disagreement and another is a flagrant attack on persons that, right or wrong, have represented the Country and what the Country represents. That's why I do not discuss Civil Servants, with or without historians' sanction, specially outside the US. Breaking the rules I'll tell you this: see what happens in Jakarta every time there is a students' protest against the government.
Re religion: "PM me to join the Expat Muslims for Obama Club". Rings any bells?
Re Business is business: That was a known fact. Perhaps good business, perhaps greed, perhaps ingenuity. Who knows? There might be another reason which I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you and I enjoy retirement. Then again, where are we not. All the service station pumps in Indonesia are supplied by an American company. So what? It's all based upon capitalism.
Finally: Royalty are not only conventional kingdoms or empires. Dictatorships (such as government for life, hereditary or by appointment; or leadership from the Minaret, Pulpit or Temple) are forms of royalty since their leaders are commonly addressed as persons with unquestioned power.
Wish you the best in your life, as well as that of those who share your views.
