It always tasted like I was drinking a pine forest to me. I can't do it, I don't think. Although I'm less sure why vodka is ever consumed straight.

i find the surroundings, ones state of mind and the company present add more to the enjoyment that the specific ingredients, assuming these are of a reasonable standard, which generally means a "brand name".
Like when shooting at Bisley as a young man, in a wonderful English summer , with girlfriend in tow, almost anything alcoholic tasted good.
and with a pub crawl, most nights ( most rifle clubs having a bar ) most everything was tried
Plus from my younger bozzier days it was always the unplanned / impromptu / preferably illict sessions that were most memorable.
More rambling thought later folks.
cheers
M

I started off a Bourbon Man. Maker's Mark predominantly. Unfortunately I had an unfortunate incident that involved Bourbon.

To this day I still can not even smell it without becoming nauseous. I attribute my neutrality on Scotch to this issue. Too darn close to the family tree to keep my stomach from flipping.

Most certainly a beer man myself, but on the odd occassion I love to drink a nice bottle of red wine with a large roll of french bread with garlic butter and a strong english or irish cheese.
