French at it again

What would Freeman do ? Send in the tanks ?
These demonstrators are definitely disrupting the normal functions of the country.

France hit by new wave of nationwide protests

By JEAN-MARIE GODARD – 42 minutes ago

PARIS (AP) — More than 1 million people marched in France on Thursday to demand the government do more to overcome the economic crisis, but planned strikes failed to fulfill a key goal — to paralyze the country.
The Associated Press: France hit by new wave of nationwide protests

Jon Chait - Obama's Intelligence Blunder - washingtonpost.com

The most extreme manifestation of Freeman's realist ideology came out in a leaked e-mail he sent to a foreign policy Internet mailing list. Freeman wrote that his only problem with what most of us call "the Tiananmen Square Massacre" was an excess of restraint:

"[T]he truly unforgivable mistake of the Chinese authorities was the failure to intervene on a timely basis to nip the demonstrations in the bud, rather than -- as would have been both wise and efficacious -- to intervene with force when all other measures had failed to restore domestic tranquility to Beijing and other major urban centers in China. In this optic, the Politburo's response to the mob scene at 'Tian'anmen' stands as a monument to overly cautious behavior on the part of the leadership, not as an example of rash action. . . .

"I do not believe it is acceptable for any country to allow the heart of its national capital to be occupied by dissidents intent on disrupting the normal functions of government, however appealing to foreigners their propaganda may be. Such folk, whether they represent a veterans' 'Bonus Army' or a 'student uprising' on behalf of 'the goddess of democracy' should expect to be displaced with despatch [sic] from the ground they occupy."

Yes, clearly, implementing the Freeman doctrine is indicated here.

Send in the tanks before it becomes necessary to shoot the demonstrators.

The only middle ground the French left have always found against the governing right (or even centrist moderates) is the demonstration. Have they always been successful? Well, there have been dead, burned cars, lots of mayhem..., enough to go home with lots of tiresome satisfaction (and possible a good riot gas cry). And the beat goes on.... Allons enfants de la Revolution, morte aux fascists a l'Elisee! See what we avoid when we ban the communist party? Them frogs...

C'est facile de ce moquer de la fierté d'un peuple. Je pense que c'est leur droit de ce manifester, qu'en penses tu?
Vive la Révolution mon pote
