The question is what to get next. This (model) year Porsche introduced the new motors with direct injection for the NA cars as well as a new dual clutch transmission (PDK) which has been getting rave reviews (even by long time manual owners). This second iteration of the 997S gets to 60 in the low 4 sec. By contrast the current generation turbo is in the low 3s but no one knows for sure when PDK and direct injection will be introduced for the 997tt.
Now when I say a SL I mean the AMG or V12 TT models. If you think they are heavy and not fun to drive then I would say you are not driving them fast enough. They are far more intuitive and confidence inspiring than any 911 derivative at speeds in excess of 100mph. If you want to be a parking lot hero and dodge cones then just get a fucking Miata.

Funny you should mention that.

When I was looking to trade in my SL I asked the dealer to test drive an SL55 he had on the lot. I never got to test drive it because….

The car would not start.

A colleague at work had a 55 and the trunk would get wet during rains and the dealer was unable to repair it.

Finally when I looked how the quality of the (then relatively new) R230 was compared to the R129 I was trading in I thought, no thanks.

My 997 lost air pressure in the connecting rod while going warp 2 through the alderon system. It cost me an arm, a leg and two klingon warriors, neither which had been through the trial of fire...
Didn't someone ban this silly fucker a while ago??
