Actress Natasha Richardson dies after skiing accident

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Natasha Richardson, actress, is dead at age 45 - Los Angeles Times

Natasha Richardson, the luminous British actress from one of the world's great acting families, whose performances ranged from the high-brow drama "The Handmaid's Tale" to the lightweight comedy "The Parent Trap" and the Tony-winning Broadway production of "Cabaret," died Wednesday. She was 45.

The wife of "Schindler's List" actor Liam Neeson and the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late film director Tony Richardson died at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. The cause of death was not announced but she had been hospitalized after suffering a devastating brain injury while skiing Monday.

Cher was fabulous in concert by the way! Even at $200 a pop.

I figured you would like the concert. I have seen her twice and worth it both times.

Glad you liked it.

Well, the list of celebrities who died in skiing accidents recently keeps growing. Sonny Bono, Michael Kennedy, now N. Richardson.

Not one of them was wearing a helmet.

I am convinced that there had to be a rock or a piece of wood right under the snow that she hit her head against. They suspect that it was internal hemorrhage from a burst blood vessel on the brain surface that created intense pressure on the brain by trapping the blood inside the skull between the brain and the skull. What possibly could have saved her was an immediate operation, drilling a hole in the skull and draining the blood and stopping the bleeding. Unfortunately, they did not realize that it was that serious until it was too late.

One of the funnier set up jokes that I have heard was after the death of Sonny Bono and Michael Kennedy. Just a few days later Carl Perkins died. The announcer ended the news story with "I didn't even know he skied".

But to seriously answer your question, they should have required her to go to the ER instead of just "asking" if she wanted to go. Apparently some folks are too cool to wear safety equipment or follow orders.

Oh, I forgot, about two years ago Arnold Schwarzenegger fell during skiing and broke his leg. It was a bad break - he had to have surgery on his leg. He is lucky I guess.
