Well, we all know the answer to all three questions.

Never under estimate what your enemies can do. That's how they ate the Big 3 for lunch.

In time, they will dominate the lower tier auto market segment and make GM even harder to sell their products. That's the whole reason behind my opposition of the Big 3 bail out.
I agree completely, look at Rover and the millions of tax payers money spent trying to save it and now it's owned by China They should have sold it to the Chinese to start with and made a proviso, that Rover would continue to be built in the UK.

Quite a few companies tried to buy rover but backed off. The name Rover was bought by BMW but car production was bought by a Chinese company and they are already building them here in China. The car is now called Rowe as China are not allowed to use the name Rover.

Maybe BMW sold the Rover name to an indian company, I'm not sure.

I have seen a few of them

Chengdu = suzuki copy with some bad modding
Greatwall = toyota copy with poor quality and zero crash test ratings
geely = BMW from rear, Mercedes from front. Handles like donkey cart
Nanjing = makes copy of older Toyota Hiace under lisence with horrible mods
cherry = so far may be the most sucessful chinese automater. Makes copies of daewoo matiz 800cc car under lisence from chevy. And a bunch of other cars in collaboration with Mitsu.

Some company in china also makes a copy of Ford Lincoln and crown vic limousine under lisence.

Its funny that chinese talk about being a super power when they cant put a decent 4 wheeler of their own on the road. And their economy is heavily dependent on USA.

Fuel economy!! whats that??

Cherry is made by SAIC, shanghai automotive industrial corporation and yes they are about the best of the bunch thus far. They are the co building Rowe (ex Rover) and it is very good build for the money

^^ Aww, I was going to purchase a 2002 Rover 75 (Red) for £900!!! That's how much they've lost in their name, the value has fallen dramaticly.

if china can bring rover quality with half decent reliability at one-eighth of cost i might consider them. Saudis banned all trade and diplomatic ties with Soviet union because they were godless communist who repressed muslims even tho the lower block soviet countries are muslims dominated. So what about china then?? They are communist and repressing about 10 million Muslims? Do i see "forigen" policy at work??

i know in the middle market at the moment Chevy happens to offer best bang for their buck. Lets compare.

Toyota Camry full option 4 banger = 88K Saudi Currency
Honda Accord Full option 4 banger = 90K (handles like water baloon)
Chevy Lumina LS with more goodies than both = 62K

Fuel per 100KM with Aircon
Camry = 10.5L
Accord = 9.9L
Lumina = 11.5L

At fuel prices in saudi i dont think a few liters up and down really make a difference. Reliablity wise none is difference than other but chevy with 36months free road assitance gives the final punch~!

Currently I drive a Chevy Optra and i take this car anyway over company Honda accord which handles like a king size mattress on wheels plus the airconditioning sucks. The big three is definately improving but more in export market than domestic.

Fuel economy!! whats that??
