6.5ft bed is all you need. For those twice in a trucks lifetime you carry drywall, leave the tailgate down or bring out the big trailer.
I prefer to use the "it keeps the cruise on 80 no matter what is on the trailer or what the terrain" gauge for truckage.
Oh, and it has to carry Wifie, me and usually Susan and Veronica and four bikes to go mountain biking. So that "extended" thingie is important.
