Then the middle class (who apparently would benefit from such spending at least according to the article) is on the hook for a part of the tax dollars spent on the convention, so it's just forced redistribution of wealth.
The real mistake is the bailout of those firms, not their spending money on conventions. You have just fallen for the populist rhetoric and the liberals' need to demonize someone, anyone, everyone. They can't function without a bogeyman.

"Class war against the wealthy backfires against the middle class". This is a title taken from US Economics 101. Even Nina Pelosi should have seen that coming. You voted for him, we all pay. Thanks a bunch.

Class warfare? It's a bad basis for arriving at a solution. Let's not look for which class is to blame for what act, let's look for the best solution that helps the most and hurts the least. Obama thinks that spending money does that and Congress agrees.

In the end everybody has skin in the game, everyone hurts some. The rich can take the loss and still be alright, the poor takes a loss and end up with a little less, the middle class take a hit and end up lower middle class. 2 years later they all vote for the other guys.

And so it goes.

That's another version of the same old story: the economy is a zero-sum game, which doesn't work in reality and has been disproven.

Your answer to this question is important to your growth and understanding: If you take money away (taxes) from those entrepreneurs and investors who create jobs where does the wealth come from to provide the taxes? Public employees pay taxes, but that is really just a discount on their public-paid wages.

Right now, the major problem is that CAPITAL (not labor) is on strike--investors are sitting back, waiting, watching, suffering. Once they have confidence in the marketplace, you will see the change you want to see.

In the meantime, I guess, you could form a consortium of the homeless to begin businesses and create jobs.

taxes don't take all the money from entrepreneurs and investors, just a "fair share"

Some investors take their money and put it in "non taxed" instruments. see the UBS IRS conflict.

CAPITAL will return when it sees a profit available,

There are reasons why "homeless" are homeless,

"guessing" is not knowing.

How is the government taking money from businesses at a time when it could mean more job cuts "fair" ?

This perception that the wealthy are inherently good because they create jobs, like that was the purpose of their business strategies and not getting rich, is, frankly, bullshit only a child that believes in the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause would buy. The very idea that the business owner is responsible for the wealth he is accumulating, and should be forgiven paying the bulk of the cost of the entire government systems that enable him and others who use the systems similarly, to accumulate his wealth fails to recognize they are the chief beneficiary of the "system." The chief beneficiary should pay for the benefits he reaps. And, in the end all the money the government hands out ends up in the hands of the wealthy because they own the shit the first recipient of whatever hand out you object to spends the handout buying. Your "jump to the end" that suggests a guy should be rewarded for scheming to screw the stock holders and other investors in his business by handing himself and his cronies, you know, the guys who could incriminate him, obscene bonuses and compensation packages, while the workers doing the work to make the product, whatever it is, are pissed on for demanding a fair wage, by having his taxes excused is also absurd.

Hey, if the work you do running your business and paying taxes is depressing you because the government want to continue taxing you, hell, trade places with someone in the food stamp or unemployment line. I am sure they would love the opportunity to make the bucks to pay a lot of taxes.

Your descriptions and assumptions are wrong on so many levels that I won't waste any time responding on the substance. You are obviously a radical anti-capitalist or a lifetime government employee of some sort who has no respect for the source of his paycheck.
