A depression is nothing but a big recession [2 quarter downtrend of the GDP according to your definition]
Our current analytical models are predicting a turnaround in late August, and since the same model predicted the economy going into the crapper right on the money resulting in my selling my current accounts holdings right before the market tanked, I'm a listening! And I told you guys then, and if you had listened, well, you wouldn't be contemplating having to sell blow jobs to make ends meet the way some of the financial Bush-backing geniuses are here at BWOT are doing, in fact when people asked where Jayhawk was, I figured he was just scoping out allys behind bars. Here is the word: stay in cash until June. After that, buy, buy, buy.
The economy is becoming a bargain, houses, cars, securities, all are selling for bargain prices and those with cash are taking notice. In addition, support for Green Technology is now coming from all levels of government, from muncipalities, school districts on up. Just retro-fitting government buildings alone would create a huge new economic sector, and this time one not made of smoke and unicorns the way the real-estate bullshit bubble was. I'm going to take some significant positions in that industry. All these clowns selling doom and gloom here, well they are going to miss one hell of a bus.
New government regulations requiring carbon reductions and "greener" building practices will also create new industries, and start driving Alternative Energy even greater than before. Watch for bills in Congress that deal with solar panels, the energy fascists who used to control the US government are gone, they blocked solar technology at every turn at the command of the oil and coal lobbies, and this is now OVER. We should see a huge influx of government grant money and a round of huge tax incentives for the industry. I am extremely bullish on solar panel manufacturers. This started when I started to see large arrays now on sale at Fry's. If they can sell them at Fry's, they can sell them everywhere. If you like to gamble, buy those stocks in anticipation that personal and business tax credits for their purchase will be enacted, on the day they are, the stock will go thru the roof. Prices on these stocks were overheated during the Oil Price Gouge, they have now come back to earth. Buy them.
I am looking for one huge key to the technological puzzle: an affordable solar array that can power a home air conditioning system. The utter logicality of it is astounding.
