Poll: Convention lifts McCain over Obama

By Susan Page, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — The Republican National Convention has given John McCain and his party a significant boost, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken over the weekend shows, as running mate Sarah Palin helps close an "enthusiasm gap" that has dogged the GOP all year.

McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican's biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. Then, he lagged by 7 percentage points.

...

McCain has narrowed Obama's wide advantage on handling the economy, by far the electorate's top issue. Before the GOP convention, Obama was favored by 19 points; now he's favored by 3.

Oh yeah, the Palin interviews. It's funny how fast even recent memory fades.

Quantum foam. It was a Dem cycle. Time to get over it and try to support your legally elected official.

And providing solutions of your own?

Complaining about what’s wrong is pointless without also proposing solutions.

More blatant partisanship is all the GOP has to offer. After obviously fucking over 99% of the American populace for the last eight years, how can anyone be partisan to the GOP? It just defies logic. W. Co whored out anything left of the conservative staples. There is nothing left to fight over. Start a new party if you have to but stop defending the dysfunctional GOP.

Shane,

The primary justification I hear from the current administration (and from lefties on this board) for their policies is that they are different from the previous administration's.

Just being different does not make them right.

The new policies got to stand on their own merits.

Bear, for all his cheerleading, still owes us a million entry spreadsheet analysis of the Pelosi Porkulus Package impact on employment.

I never liked or trusted Mccain but the biggest reason IMO that McCain lost was that people saw exactly the kind of decisions he would make in the white house and regarding this country when they got a taste of his most important decision-PALIN!
