My guess was 6500 but I would not be surprised if it goes to 5000.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

My prediction back then was 4500.

It could stop at 5000 - 5200.

Hopefully.

I still think it stops at 6,500 as I said since last year. Any lower than that, many people will go ape shit and may cause civic unrest. As it stands now, 60% of the baby boomer's lost at least 50% of their asset value. You may see people start burning down banks and investment houses when they lost 65% of their nest egg. Just look at the news from AIG today, they asked for $30 billions more and the market reacted badly. I am sure if the Government keeps giving, they will keep coming back for more and that's when people get angry.

Well might be, although I fail to understand why Dow at 6500 is OK, well, kind of, not really, but OK, and Dow 6300 is the reason for rioting.

Shorters, including naked shorters, seem to be in full control of the market now. They include domestic and foreign predators, and it is an open season on Wall St those days.
