Preparing for the aftermath of trickle down economics I thought I'd find some property more remote and off the grid. My criteria was beautiful scenery, cheap, spring fed creek running year around and plentiful fish and wildlife to eat. Since I live in Texas and spend most of my time riding dual purpose motorcycles a new region of the USA would be a plus - preferably the northwest. The property I found is directly in the middle of a triangle formed by Winnemucca, Elko & Austin, in north central Nevada. This is ranching and turquoise, silver and gold mining country -AND- unbelievably, because of the economic disaster driving up the price of gold, the Lander county economy is booming. I expect passive solar, bermed into the hill with lots more cast-in-place vertical concrete. I bought 150 acres for 30K dollars. My only neighbor is BLM land. The property extends half a mile from the road. The elevation starts at 5500 feet and at the back of the property is 6600 feet. Two and a half miles to my east is Bullion Mountain and three miles to my west is Mount Lewis. While my property is more dry and arid, on Mount Lewis it is an Alpine climate with Aspens. While walking the property I found some rabbit tracks, followed by coyote tracks followed by mountain lion tracks. The area has a good mule deer population as well. I got the mining rights to some of the BLM land behind me for 125 bucks a years.

I drive right by you on a regular basis. Hwy 95 is a great place to test out the top speed of your vehicles with impunity.
