Given the powers you attribute to Bush, surely you would attribute the overall growth in the world to him as well ?
Yes, I do him credit for much of the overall growth in the world while he was President.
His economic policies, specifically his trade policies ramped up Trade Deficits which helped many of the other countries grow their economies at the expense of ours. His economic doctrine, which resulted in a dollar that was at RECORD LOWS also helped other countries economies grow as their currencies soared and were able to power above the Dollar as the currency of choice for much of international trade.
Also, foreign Governments, such as China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, UAE and others invested $Trillions in US Treasuries as Bushie pushed the federal budget into higher and higher deficit territory, providing consistent returns and safe haven investments for their governments and private investors.
So for those of us who invested in global industries and global markets, things were not always so bad. For the US Economy, however, welcome to 2009. You now see the full effect of Eight years of the Bush Economic Doctrine and the unusually harsh measures that are having to be done in an attempt to bring the US Economy back to a realistic level.
