That is not what is happening here. What is happening is that the power brokers of our nation that caused this fiasco in the first place are all grabbing for air. The object is not to refloat our economy, the object is to make sure every fat cat who got us here has a life preserver.
For example, why is it that Obama hasn't recalled our military from the four corners of the globe? No single stimulus measure could even hope to challenge the enormous economic benefit from such a strategy.
I won't argue that the "market forces" are still trying to steer the bus, and they only see the future as more, and more frantic, assfucking. And they want it to be the middle class that continues to take it in the ass so it isn't them.
You can see it when the bankers who have to let a foreclosure judge decide they have to renegotiate a mortgage when the homeowner is in danger of falling behind gather together to lobby against the idea. I mean, they see this as a rock they are squeezing for cold, hard cash and someone who likely has paid enough equity to actually own enough of his or her home to be willing to do some extraordinary shit to keep it. Like forgo health insurance. Or continue to drive with glasses that really don't correct their vision any more. The banks don't want that kind of loan being renegotiated - that was bread and butter for chrissakes, they owned that motherfucker and who is the government coming in and setting that tight, middle class ass free from a crushing thirty years of assfucking? No, they want the taxpayer to help the bankers out - meaning the individual officers of the banks and nothing else. I see it, GS. Believe me. The whole lot of the Wall St. and big banks, and big insurance companies and all those other businesses that control money, without actually making a single fucking thing - no products, no cars, no ladders, no homes, no, just a bunch of mumbo jumbo about "risk management" and "investment opportunities" involving suspicious sounding shit like "hedge funds" and other euphemisms for fabricated paper concepts that when the shit hits the fan are worth nothing. They should be forced to justify why they shouldn't spend their remaining years in jail.
And I would love to see us shut down our imperialistic initiatives around the world. Let Putin stand in that shit by himself.
Some of that may come because we have to cut costs somewhere and that process is just starting. More ideas are needed and ways to implement the ideas without finding out that "pork" you just cut was really your future in some way shape or form. Yes, some shit is happening without being really well planned and modeled and having really certain positive outcomes. Hopefully that set of events is ending and the next steps we take will be allowed to have been examined more carefully - on the spending and taxing as well as cutting and taxing sides. Because there is a huge hole that has been mined out by not taxing for too long. Only spending won't fix the problem, just like only not spending won't either.
I think Obama is reasonably intelligent and I don't think he is crippled like Jimmy Carter was. Carter was a very decent guy, and very bright, but someone who couldn't figure out he had to start in one place and work his way to where he was going - he was ok with being completely derailed by a noble cause he uncovered along the way and spent his entire Presidency being derailed because Washington DC is so full of ignoble motives and people and actions that he was foiled by a few sacrificial ignobilities that his opponents were happy to offer up. So, I hope Obama will get his red pen out and start the process of shit caning the projects that don't serve the nation's interests. Like being the self appointed agent responsible for world order.
