I wonder how many gallons of fuel they dump per year in the air.
Depending on the configuration they can hold more than 60,000 gallons of fuel and fully loaded it will use 1/5 of that ... just taking off.
The -400ER holds 6,420 additional gallons of fuel to extend its range an additional 410 nautical miles over the regular -400.
All other things being equal, that's about 15 gallons per mile. Spread across 400 passengers that's not too bad.
I heard on the news that each person on a commercial jet flight of a few hours time is responsible for 200-300 pounds of carbon being dumped into the atmosphere. That's a buttload when you think about how many planes are flying all of the time.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)
