Good grief.

It's not a matter of too much nitpicking; apparently no one here gets the point because they are so busy flashing their bias nothing else matters. This IS NOT about party issues; as anyone should know by now I can't stand either the asses or the elephants (actually I mostly consider them all asses, but that's a different point entirely...).

The point is that POTUS made a lot of factual assertions last night. If you're part of the group that is so in love with Obama that you'll agree with whatever drips from his mouth, OR if you are part of the group that wouldn't agree with him if said the surface of the sun would probably be considered hot by most humans, then it doesn't matter what he says or what I think or what the facts really are, right?

But my point was that my ears perked up when I heard him rattle that off, and hey, you can label it as too much nitpicking if you like (so you can comfortably ignore the point), but since it is not a factually correct statement, it simply made me wonder what else he was glossing over or ignoring or being less than truthful about amidst all the flowery rhetoric and falderal that are the foundation of most any political address.

As to intelligence, Obama has always been an intelligent, thoughtful speaker. I have no doubt he could write his own speeches and has the intelligence to do so, and I for one would give him props if he did.

I do not believe anyone questions your overall position on Pols here in the US. What I feel is however, the statement you reference, is at best based on the accepted norm as to Modern Automobiles and their heritage. He was simply stating the precieved fact, and not attempting to mislead anyone.

But we can't yank your chain on a thread if we just say "yep".

What, besides the "we invented the automobile" did you find? I am re-reading it now to check myself. I was at a gallery opening/Mardi Gras party last night and missed it live. So I missed the buzz but sold five photos.

I am sure Obama would gladly correct the statement to "automobile mass production" if asked. Either predicate would support his assertion. Perhaps if you can show us how it factually changed his speech, you know, something along the line of "we know for certain that Saddam will have a nuclear weapon in six months, maybe a year", otherwise, give us all a break with the nit picky shit. I can't believe I am hearing this crap from some dude who let Bush piss lies into his ears for years as he was told it was raining.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

Anyone who will argue semantics or build up their side by belittling the other side is a fucking cunt. STOP with the us-vs.-them nonsense. Argue issues, not nonsense. If you don't KNOW the difference, just shut the fuck up. I can't survive this.

Survive it, hell, you are my absolute best example of the one who not only survived but grew from the process.

When I talk about this board in other places I explain that some folks are fully entrenched, others are above/below it and still others have grown into much stronger people than when they started here.

I agree (with the exception of the last sentence). It's all just so much school-girl chatter.

Wow.

We now feel all warm and fuzzy. Thanks for that Bear. You are who we aspire to please.
