This happened to me the other day in Dallas while...

filling up my Lexus LS. A ruffled and dirty looking gentleman walked past me while giving my automobile and self the eye. He thus finally spake with slow reticence...

"I can tell by your car and the way you dress you are a man of wealth and taste."

Well shit, there went that day. Did anyone ever really want to hear part of a Rolling Stone song used to describe one's self by a total stranger? I certainly did not, and I certainly didn't need his begging for a handout either. A little aerosol hairspray and a Bic and I could have chased him around the adjacent parking lot for hours for that little statement. You understand don't you?

Always best to ask them first.

"Excuse me Mr. Homeless Guy, I wonder if you could spot me an extra 10 or even 5 dollars so I can really top of the tank? No? How about next Tuesday at the Tiger Mart just off Wilshire?"

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

^I'm tired of that approach. I find needless pyrotechnics more invigorating at this point.

Don't worry Shane. No here, where we all know who you really are, will ever mistake you for a man of wealth and taste.

Don't believe everything you think
