Tonight...

...for the first time in my life, I had to clean my mother with a sanitary wet wipe.

She has forgotten how to do it herself.

I tried posting in other threads but not much interested.

No response is necessary. Just venting a bit. At least we're not dodging phosphorus shells.

I don't know what to expect next.

My dad is dealing with his step-father's journey into dementia. His mind is gone. My grandmother passed away late last year, and she was taking care of him. Thankfully he had a good retirement and could get into a nursing home, but he'll outlive his money.

Getting old sucks.

Very sorry to hear you have "graduated" to that point. It is hard on so many levels.

Vent as you need. That is the reason we exist here through the interwebtubes.

Take care.

Here in Minn. we have companies who supply Personal Care Assistants. I believe New York and others have the same. For a modest charge, often reimbursed by both State Aide and Private Insurance, they come to the home and provide all types of care and assistance. It is not Ideal, however it does give the families a break, and provides at home versus placement care.
Good luck with dealing with your Mom. Remember, she loves you too, and I am certain she did much the same for you previously in life.

Unfortunately those folks come to the home on a schedule. I found out that 80+ Year Old bowels tend to ignore schedules.

They are very good for daily baths, exercise programs and things like that.
