All that is happening now is that the Government is giving Crack to Crack addicts.

Nothing that they will do will help. It has been Congress' fault that we are in this mess. They aren't doing anything like taking away the bad regulations and replacing them with ones that make sense.

I can only imagine you are referencing the Congress that was in place and Power for the bulk of the past eight years, correct.

There is nothing wrong with the regulations that are in place. It only required the previous administration to enforce them, which they chose not to.

Congress is not in charge of enforcing regulations.

Are you kidding me? Give me a break McBear. IF that is the case then why is Obama et al spending so much money on this spending package? I mean, if all it takes is enforcing the existing regulations then we should be fine and the market will correct itself is what you are saying.

Congress in general is one party. That is a party of self aggrandizing petty pricks.

This is why we need term limits. Career politicians are ruining this nation.

In England, as an example the income tax rate for $50,000 is 40%. Japan has about the same rate, as is Germany's. All three also have a 12-17% regional/state/municipal tax.

Then there are the import quotas and tariffs associated with those countries.

My point, comparing the US system, even in its shaky state to Germany/Japan after total capitulation of World War or England after three decades of trying to regain footing from WW2 is not particularly valid.

We have, better or worse a very unique economic model that, due to policies over the past 50 years has morphed in to a juggernaut that has no real peers to compare it to [only elements in historical slices].

With a GDP that is about 25% of the WORLD's $55Trillion GDP, the ramifications of meltdown are beyond incalculable. And a turnaround, which would involve a global depression would be a decade or more. For anyone over 45 the odds of having anything other than a retirement on the dole would be out of the question as there would be no time to recover from lifelong losses.

In comparison, 60% of German tax revenue comes from consumer based taxes, i.e. VAT = 19% currently.

Please learn basic economics before typing. Let's make an analogy.

You eat 10,000 calories a day for 10 years because you didn't regulate your intake. Now, you weigh 450 pounds and you think that, by just eating a "normal" diet as if you were perfectly healthy you should be fine and your weight will correct itself.

We have the appropriate regulations in place. IF the economy was healthy AT THIS POINT IN TIME, all we would need to do to maintain a reliable economy would be to enforce regulations and common sense. HOWEVER, since we went on a glutinous binge, sans regulations for so many years we do not have, at this point in time a healthy economy, hence the requirement for extraordinary measures to try and correct. Think of the stimulus package as hard core rehab for the grossly obese.

So you would prefer inexperienced self aggrandizing petty pricks?

As a general rule, what percentage of a "middle class" worker's income is absorbed in ALL taxes, from VAT to gasoline to the different Income taxes. As I was going through the various charts and tables I found that every tax had caveats and conditions.
