That's not going to be inexpensive either, just redistributing the responsibility to those taxpayers in states who didn't overspend and over develop in their areas and lived move within their means, with balanced budgets.

Start by reducing services in all the Republican districts that demanded NO NEW TAXES no matter what the consequences would be. Cut all state supplementary state funding for their police, fire and hospital services. Eliminate all tax breaks for businesses in those districts to businesses who have been profiting without paying taxes for the past years.

In other words, let them put their money [or lack of it] where their mouth is.

See what settles out after that.

If that reduction is coupled with a reduction in state taxes for those districts that take up the offer, I will sign up for it.

No question about that.

Nope, remember I said NO NEW TAXES. Tax rates are, and should be as dynamic as the economy on which they are based. When there is greater need, for what ever reason there has to be a reassessment.

On a national level IRAQ would have been a perfect example. A simple "We think we need to go to war for WMDs, here is our proof. Everybody's taxes are going to go up X percent for the duration to pay for it". It would have changed the dialog completely. Fewer people would have died.

you'll what?
sign up for that. you have no idea what a drop in tax revenue would do to the infrastructure of a large city.
you'll need the Republican SUV just to navigate past the potholes and water main leaks.
Not to mention the lack of police causing a minor.. (really minor?) increase in crime.
how about changing burned out street lights, traffic lights, downed signs.
you'll be living in MadMax beyond LA in no time!
you don't want any of that.

there's plenty of wasteful contracts given to political donors that have failed miserably.
lets start there.
btw.
I live in N.J. we don't have money either, but we accept tax increases because we live in reality.. not fantasy land.
we do, however have the most corrupt political system in the nation.
I'm quite proud of that .....
