That a misdemeanor is a crime is beyond dispute. That a crime may be a misdemeanor is entirely possible. That you can't distinguish your ass from a hole in the ground is a parental failing.

With a New Budget, Now Californians Brace for the Pain - TIME

There is an irony in passing such a draconian budget in the shadow of President Obama's recent incentives. "This budget plan has been really counter-intuitive from what people have been hearing about the federal stimulus package," Baldassare says. "We recognize that here's a circumstance where the federal government is moving in one direction, which is to encourage [funding] increases and tax cuts to stimulate, and the state is moving in a different direction."

Really, should you be listening to budget analysis from a guy named BaldASS?

And he spells air wrong.

Yup, total mismanagement of state spending.

Dave,

The state of California is not spending any funds on bombs and soldiers so your point it moot in this context. But what is totally relevant is that the state of California is BROKE and spending beyond its means.

How do YOU propose California spend within its ability to pay ?

Whether state or federal, I'd much prefer the tax monies I pay be used to aid and enhance the domestic environment than in the pursuit of the folly of empire.

Were the US, all fifty of her states, more attentive to the needs and realities of our own interests, the monies wasted in the desert, and allowed to vaporize due to the avarice of those with the least to lose, every state budget in the union would be far better situated.

Crime and felonies go hand-in-hand; misdemeanors and minor violations go in turn together. I would review my Roman Law, L'Esprit des Lois, British and American Jurisprudence, Police Procedures (how to act according to the situations), and if you are in a reading mode why not Miss Manners Manual of Etiquette. Stop hiding in the fact that you are from where you are to insult when you cann't find a better defense and you might get to be a great guy.

Having lived in Cali and also in NY, Kentucky, England and a few other locations for short periods of time [Fargo, WTF?] what I have always been amazed at with California is the amount of infrastructure that you guys have. You have more, and better roads than much of the rest of the country. You have spent billions on ports and the infrastructure to support them which dovetail with our exploding trade deficits. You have a school system that most states would die for.

On the down side you allowed free market to rule the supernova real estate market, provided tax incentives to EVERYONE to bring industry to California [where many conveniently moved the "labor" part just south of the borders] and set up a "land of milk and honey" without the necessary funding to support it. You built a system that required expansion to work. Expansion stopped [as it ALWAYS does] and you now see the outcome.

If you reduce the salaries of folks like teachers and cops, many will leave the state, taking tax revenue with them. If you reduce social programs, the odds are high that crime and health problems will go sky high as there is no free pass on addressing the needs of the poor. Your choices are going to be limited to either a restructuring of your tax system to optimize it or just take the easy way out and raise taxes for everyone which has its own regressive results.

California boxed itself into a corner. There are not going to be any inexpensive ways out of that corner.

However, insulting an adversary and his momma when you don't have any rebuttal is really unbecoming of a modern gentlemen. In the old days, this results in a life and death duel outside with matching pistols that bear probably has.
