However...

A nit to pick in this particular article would be that the wrong group of professionals was surveyed. By their own admission, it is too soon for them to form a reliable opinion as all the results are not yet known. I would suggest that a more appropriate group of professionals for the writer to survey would be Futurists. These are people who make it their business (art?) to predict the future based on current events and trends instead of passing final judgment based on possibly incomplete information.
But they predicted flying cars and women with cone bras [we only got Madonna]. So it that REALLY the group you want?

Not a chance. He was created from a particularly large and bloody bowel movement by his mother in a huge mistake at Yale Medical, but once the abomination was declared "alive" it was sent to Texas, Midland to be precise, to be "raised." Trips back East went to Kennebunkport, Maine, where it is rumored Barbara ate a near inhuman mass of oysters and quahogs that caused such a swelling and pulsing of her belly she was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital in great agony. There the mass was let loose and the whole event was mistaken by the unnerved medical staff for a bizarre birth.

Later, when George was ready for school, no local Texas schools would accept him and he was shipped off to expensive, private schools in the East where it is relatively common for wealthy sperm donors and their flesh embryo incubators to pay others to raise their offspring, regardless of what kind of mess the things are, for a fee. That high school, by the way, was not in Connecticut. It was in Massachusetts and George made his name as a cheerleader leader in his senior year. Mommy and Daddy must have been so proud. Later, when Texas again rejected his application to attend Law School, he fell back on the tried and true Eastern tradition of having Daddy buy you a spot in an "Ivy League" school, and he attended Yale.

The point is, other than being shat out in a hospital in Connecticut (what else can you do when a woman screaming in pain is delivered to the front door of a hospital?) where the curious mix of bile, oyster bits and quahog chunks was brought to life by accident, you can't tag Connecticut with any more than being kind and mistaking what should have been flushed for something that rich people might have spawned.

Judging by some of the grades I received on a variety of history tests, that's not exactly a snap, either. Besides, the jury's still out on the flying car thing. I bet those one minute microwave brownies don't get down nearly fast enough for you.

From Wikipedia
Futurology

Main article: Futurology

Futurology or "futures studies" is often summarized as being concerned with "three Ps and a W," or possible, probable, and preferable futures, plus wildcards, which are low-probability but high-impact events, should they occur. Even with high-profile probable events, such as the fall of telecom costs, the growth of the internet, or the aging demographics of particular countries, there is often significant uncertainty in the rate or continuation of a trend. Thus a key part of futuring is the managing of uncertainty and risk.[3]

Those who mourn the absence of flying cars are clearly doing something wrong. My car flies when I want it to, and doesn't when I don't.
