That attitude will end our country, just as it ended the Soviet Union. Empire only has one end.

I think we have an answer.

Did they too realize you were bluffing since they knew you paid for everything the first time and would have to pay to replace everything that was tossed? Gotta love a relationship based on threats and bluffs.

I was not so dumb as to toss something I would need to replace. My kids all turned out to be good people even if they don't always agree with me. One is an officer in the Army (democrat), one is an actress (democrat), and two are in college (republicans).

They had to know I was serious. Too many of our leaders have taken the weak stand the enemy has called their bluff. Trade Center one and two, USS Cole, etc. Keep backing down and they will keep on advancing. Retreat is not a tactic or a defense.

It's as specific as your question. It's not like you not to pick apart a statement and zero in on a specific word to take out of context. What was it? My inferring that Barry will wind sadly up like LBJ? That Golwater wanted a swift end (albeit misguided)? My mocking of Barry's inability to get his Eurobuddies to pony up? The reactionist futility of waiting to be attacked (whack a mole)? A surge to draw 'em out instead of a Harry Ried "we lost" surrender program?

Pick something.

And how many children have you raise from birth to adult?

Zero, my wife dies if she has children. Seems an odd tradeoff.

The naiveté of your commentary on trying to eradicate an enemy that has no borders and has not command and control structure with strategies that are based on army v army tactics and time based warfare. Your premise that "the Goldwater strategy might have been better" or "a real surge with a scorched earth policy to eradicate the vermin once and for all" are laughable in a nation v terrorists conflict.

It is that simplistic view that has put us 7 years into a "war against terrorists" in which we have yet to capture or kill the leadership even though we have the most advanced technical capability on the planet and they live in caves all the while we chased bogies in the desert, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians, thousands of our troops and burning Trillions of Dollars and have zero guarantee that we are one scintilla more safe from terrorists.

So you were bluffing. You tell them "throw everything" but you caveat with "not something you would need to replace". Classic threat and bluff. Wouldn't TRUTH be a better option?
