You need to reread what I said. I said that we need LONGTERM stability rather than instant gratification.

That in no way suggests the American economy move from its reliance on the consumer. Considering we quit being the manufacturing hub for the world, consumerism is the only real game we have left other than "services" which are moving offshore at stupid quick rates.

"Putting more gifts under the tree" is not instant gratification, rather it's a yearly expense.

I do. but apparently you do not, or you are just doing a general survey of vocabulary.

Apparently you don't like the systems analysis approach to troubleshooting.

Should we suppose that your solution of "just stop digging" would address any and every "hole" problem? The "stop digging" approach makes me think you would then be awaiting at the bottom of the hole for the adults to come bail you out of your predicament, unable to figure out a solution.

Wait...that sounds very familiar.

An honest response initially would have been something along the lines, " I screwed that up," or "I really mixed that metaphor." But, no, you have to cobble-together an inane rationalization for your understanding of holes.

Your error above is to assume that I, a citizen, is in the hole when a proper understanding of the analogy would be to conclude the legislature is the one digging the hole with a shovel bought with our taxpayer money.

For an intelligent man, you sure can be a concrete thinker sometimes when a little humor, self-deprecation and abstract thought could go a long way. But I forget, libs have little sense of humor.
