Here what's wrong with military procurement

The inspector general report said that the average cost of a single Growler has risen 120 percent, from about $94,000 when the contract was awarded in 2004 to $209,000 in 2008. The unit cost for the vehicle with mortar and ammunition trailer has grown 86 percent, from $579,000 to $1,078,000.

Does that piece of crap look like a $200K+ vehicle? Shit, not only that, to make it "practical" you have to get the trailer and more than ONE million dollar. Does it run on levitation?

Watch this movie and you will understand.

The Pentagon Wars (1998) (TV)

If you have any honor and sense the words FFS are included in reply to most every memo you receive. It took two members of our team to keep up with "change requests" during the first three years of the project. We pushed many to a sister project that we knew had less discipline and would not say no.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

Everytime someone starts prattling on a rant about the poor and what welfare grifters they are, I just steer them to the Pentagon's perpetual trough of scope-creep and gilded toilet seats; aka, the corporate welfare grifter's wet-dream

I think we should send our guys to war in Bentleys and Rollses. Would cost the same and provide a laugh quotient too. Or maybe Bugatti Veyrons which could outrun any ordnance the other side throws at us. The possibilities are endless, and potentially quite stylish.

Hey they have to fund Area 51 somehow.
