Angry How do I register a car from California now in Washington?

So now that my 1991 190e 2.3 is fixed, I am finally registering it and stuff.

I bought the car last August in California and drove it back to Washington. I figured I would register it and get tabs and insurance for it after I fixed it up.

I went to the Licensing place to get it registered but they told me I was supposed to register it in California before bringing the car to Washington. They told me I had to go back to California to register it. Is this true? What else can I do? This is the first car I bought so I am not experienced with this stuff. The seller gave me these documents when I bought the car. What should I do? I have the necessary papers right? I dont want to bring the wrong papers to California and get turned away. Here is a link to the papers/documents that I have that the seller gave me regarding my car. PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like B/S if you have a title and a bill of sale you should be able to get a reggie in any state, though here in NH you need an old reggie from the past owner if you don't have a title.

well I dont have a title, but i have papers called "vehicle reassignment form". its from one owner to the next. the "buyer" section is empty on one of them. I guess i am supposed to fill that out and submit it in california for a title and registration? honestly i dont even know the difference from a title and a registration. (please take a look at the link, you dont need a facebook account. its a public photo album)

That Doc won't get you anything, you need a bill of sale from the past owner, then apply for a title which will show that your the legal owner, then you should be able to get the reggie in dc. You might have to get a CA. title first then apply for the DC title when you register.

So you're saying that the vehicle transfer and reassignment form does not count as a bill of sale??

ps. I'm not in DC I am in Washington State.

I think Washington wants to see a continuous chain of title, from state to state.
