$25k? 25k! Bloody Hell!

Davey demands forced air in the Santa Fe house. He thinks +80 degrees is too hot that a few of the rooms reach on the hottest summer days. So I get this joker out to give an estimate for a 10k sq ft home using the latest and greatest bullshit compressed A/C (Unico) units. So he says he is starving and will give me a good deal. $25,000.00. This home doesn't even need A/C for crying out loud. What is the best way to change Davey's mind?

WTF do two people do with 10k sq/ft? It cost me $6k to install a heatpump (operates as AC in the Summer) for a 1300 sq/ft house a few houses ago. Do the math

Yeah, but two Chihuahua's don't really count.

I live on a small hill here in Connecticut. At the bottom of the hill is a road called Mountain Road. It runs North-South. The hill we live on is on the West side of Mountain Road, and the houses are a little bigger than the houses on the East side of Mountain Road. As well, the lots are much bigger up on the hill. Along with that, goes the fact that contractors charge a hefty premium for doing work "West of Mountain Road." So, for example, if I wanted my 3400 sq. ft. house painted, it might cost me $12,000. The exact same house, located East of Mountain Road would probably cost around $7,000 for the same paint job, by the same contractor. Just a fact of life.

You're home is so large, that contractors, I'm sure, feel that you can afford the expense. My suggestion, either go ahead and have the work done, for the 25 grand, or don't, but don't expect much sympathy, from your neighbors with "normal" sized homes. Your situation sort of reminds me of one of my friends who owns two Ferraris, and always complains about how much he spends in mechanic costs.

JJ

Get him one of those little battery powered fans and a mist bottle to carry from room to room. That will either really make him "hot" or shut him up for a while.

I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

^He eats when he is happy. He eats when he is depressed. He eats when he is confused, he eats when he is bored. He just eats. Maybe the heat will help him shed a few.
