We have two dogs. Duh.
Yeah, but two Chihuahua's don't really count.
I live on a small hill here in Connecticut. At the bottom of the hill is a road called Mountain Road. It runs North-South. The hill we live on is on the West side of Mountain Road, and the houses are a little bigger than the houses on the East side of Mountain Road. As well, the lots are much bigger up on the hill. Along with that, goes the fact that contractors charge a hefty premium for doing work "West of Mountain Road." So, for example, if I wanted my 3400 sq. ft. house painted, it might cost me $12,000. The exact same house, located East of Mountain Road would probably cost around $7,000 for the same paint job, by the same contractor. Just a fact of life.
You're home is so large, that contractors, I'm sure, feel that you can afford the expense. My suggestion, either go ahead and have the work done, for the 25 grand, or don't, but don't expect much sympathy, from your neighbors with "normal" sized homes. Your situation sort of reminds me of one of my friends who owns two Ferraris, and always complains about how much he spends in mechanic costs.
