And, unless either decided to throw to rogue targets, the damage would be limited to those two countries.

It would suck to be in the region and the world's economy would shutter hard but it would stabilize once the two combatants were put in their corners. Both are small enough that they can't take many nuclear hits without capitulation. Then the maps change again.
I think both of these countries are loony. Neither has anything to offer the rest of the world but at least Iran has oil. I would like to see nothing done and Iran get the nukes. What can happen if Iran does get nukes? 2 things:

1. Peace in the region because Israel would be forced to behave due to another and pretty much equal power in the region. Israel only behaves like a bully in the region because of its power. This needs to be stabilized.

2. OR nuclear war. Both countries would be destroyed. Start over with a clean State.

However, I do not believe that the United States should be involved.

So called "nuclear winter" might be a myth, or it might be for real.
I think this is not entirely true. Those countries don't have anything, nor do the people. Their lifestyles won't change as they don't have anything now and they won't miss what they never had. The lifestyle of the common man won't change. The monies from oil only helps the royals. Not much of it trickles down to the common man.
On the other hand, the west is who would be greatly affected. As I have said before, life as WE know it will end. We would be most affected. We have grown quite spoiled and accustomed to a life of waste and luxury and comfort even in hard times compared to the rest of the world. We even live better, have more, enjoy more than even any other European country! This is the reason everyone wants to come to America. The life of the average citizen here is still better than in any other country even in these difficult economic times; even when gas was $5.00/gallon no so long ago.

Israel will keep pushing for a strike against Iran but it's up to the new American administration to show that it's not Israel's hit man. The world was lucky that Netanyahu (What a coincidence! neten = rotten dirty in Arabic ) wasn't prime minister when GWB was president.

I have the impression that Obama is more interested in the situation in Afghanistan. This means he doesn't afford to upset the Iranians. Iran has the capacity to open a new front on Americans in Afghanistan (same as the case in Iraq). This doesn't mean that Iran will discontinue its word war on the US, the great satan.

The propaganda will continue. It keeps Ahmadinejad looking like he is powerful to his people.

What we don't need is a single front that stretched from the Mediterranean to the Kashmirs. Iran and Israel are the two dominoes to keep that from happening.

Dominoes, heh, heh, we're the sacrificial piece in this game; it's all for God and his promises. The Israelis want their land and the Iranians want Al Mahdi, either way we are fuked if play their game.

Hey, anyone want to join Persian Online Dating and Chat at IranianPersonals.com?

I'd love to see what ads Google generated if we started a thread saying "fuck you Google" or "Eric Schmidt eats deformed genitals". Google that.
